Comments
When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comments form, plus the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam.
An anonymized string (hash) of your email may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you use it. See Gravatar’s privacy policy: https://automattic.com/privacy/.
After approval, your profile picture (if any) is public in the context of your comment.

Media
If you upload images, avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors may download and extract location data from images.

Comments and metadata: kept indefinitely for follow-up comment approval.
For registered users: all personal info in their profile is stored. Users can see, edit, or delete their info anytime (except username). Admins can also edit user info.

If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an export of your personal data or ask us to erase it. This does not include any data we must keep for admin, legal, or security purposes.

Alternative:
Consider adding a short summary at the top (“How we handle your data: We only collect what’s needed for comments, user accounts, and order processing. No data is ever sold or shared for marketing.”) for extra transparency.

Critical Take:

  • Good coverage for a small author site, but missing analytics and payment handling sections if you use those services.
  • Add GDPR/CCPA details if you expect international visitors.
  • Don’t over-promise privacy—say exactly what’s true about your setup.
